Hot isostatic pressing and heat treatments of LPBFed CoCuFeMnNiTi0.13 high-entropy alloy:microstructure and mechanical properties

This study investigates laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) processing of a CoCuFeMnNiTi0.13 high-entropy alloy, revealing both good densification and hot cracks due to liquation of a Cu-rich phase. Various thermo-mechanical treatments were tested, with hot isostatic pressing followed by controlled cooling effectively healing pores and cracks while achieving desired microstructural transformations. This approach produced a balanced set of mechanical properties, suggesting that proper post-processing can address issues in LPBF-fabricated high-entropy alloys, yielding tailored microstructures with satisfactory mechanical performance.
