Material Densification Application Centers

Expert support for testing, developing recipes, and optimizing processes

Test, Optimize, and Innovate

The Quintus Advanced Material Densification application centers have developed into a major source of value for our customers. Here, materials and HIP/WIP/CIP recipes can be tested together with our experts to drive productivity up and costs down. Testing of new materials or adjustment of parameters can be done in our small-scale unit, avoiding the need to take up valuable capacity in larger production equipment.

Services Offered

From mastering the use and implementation of modern Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) equipment to optimization and consolidation of post-process heat treatment.

Quintus Technologies can offer testing and application support within isostatic pressing to demonstrate the capabilities, feasibility and results of the process. Included in this scope are:

  • Consultation on materials, process capabilities, and process parameters
  • Thorough testing of the desired process to confirm functionality
  • A report describing the results and the logged process data

We support by collaborating with an external partner to evaluate chemical composition, microstructure, porosity, mechanical properties, and fatigue properties of the tested samples, scope, and price to be defined based on current needs.

Facilities & Equipment

Our application centers are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and a full range of HIP, WIP, and CIP systems, designed to support both testing and development. Whether evaluating new materials or fine-tuning process parameters, our equipment enables efficient, small-scale trials without disrupting full-scale production.

Equipment

Hot/Warm/Cold Isostatic Presses, Isostatic Laminator

Equipment capabilities

Each center has different equipment and capabilities. Below are our overall capabilities:

Expert Support & Collaboration

Close collaboration with customers, universities, and research institutions is driving cutting-edge advancements in Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) technology. These partnerships are shaping the future of mass production by enabling the optimization of new techniques and process parameters. See the standard HIP parameters for various materials as your starting point, helping you accelerate development and validation.

Together with hands-on experience at the Quintus Application Centers, this support enables customers to refine parameters, develop production strategies, and ensure a smooth transition from concept to full-scale operation.

Chalmers Formula Student Freja

Chalmers Formula Student bridges the gap between Engineering Education and Industry by training students in a real-life project where they independently Design, Analyze and develop Technology solutions by making Data-Driven Decisions throughout the Design, Manufacturing and Testing of a full-fledged Formula Racing automobile, and finally put their skills to the test in competitions with various other teams from the rest of the world.

Quintus is one of the bronze sponsors and a very proud partner with Chalmers Formula Student. Recently, they unveiled Freja, the CFS24 car set to compete in Formula Student East in Hungary and Formula Student Germany.

We proudly contributed to the project by providing HIP processing for the Aluminium AlSi10mg additively manufactured components of the car’s suspension system using our HIP system at our Application Center in Västerås, Sweden.

RES2AM Project

The RES2AM project is developing Sweden’s first large-scale Laser Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB) system demonstrator to accelerate industrial metal additive manufacturing. The initiative aims to strengthen local supply chains, cut material waste, and advance Sweden’s Net Zero manufacturing goals.

Partners include Chalmers University of Technology, GKN Aerospace Sweden, Nikon SLM Solutions, Saab, Ringhals AB, SKF Group, Quintus Technologies, Interspectral, AMiquam, Additive Assurance, Hexagon AB, MTC Powder Solutions, and Dyndrite, with academic collaboration from DTU (Denmark) and the Multi-Scale Additive Manufacturing Laboratory (Canada).

Quintus contributes its Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) expertise to enhance the performance and reliability of additively manufactured metal parts, validating post-processing and supporting industrial qualification. The project aims to demonstrate a robust, sustainable, and digitally connected manufacturing chain for next-generation metal additive production in Sweden.
