On the Anisotropic Impact Behavior of an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg Alloy in Different Heat Treatment Conditions

This study examines the anisotropic high-strain rate behavior of laser-powder bed fusion (L-PBF) produced AlSi10Mg alloy under various heat treatment conditions. Different heat treatments were tested, and impact tests were conducted to assess anisotropic properties. Results show significant anisotropy in as-built and annealed alloys, while samples treated at high temperatures exhibit more consistent behavior. Microstructural analysis suggests that heat treatment mitigates anisotropy by recovering Si phase heterogeneity. This study provides insights for mitigating anisotropy in additively manufactured Al alloys.
