Large HIP Systems

Quintus is able to produce large HIP equipment with URC® cooling, reducing cycle times and increasing productivity.

Large HIP vessels as part of our standard program

Quintus has extremely large HIP equipment as part of our standard program. This helps us keep short lead times and ensures a quick and timely start-up of production. We also have the capability of creating custom-made large equipment to meet specific requirements as needed.

Productivity

Cooling of a full workload from 1,260 to 300°C takes less than 30 minutes in a large HIP. In an equivalent HIP system, natural cooling can take from 8 to 12 hours, well over half the typical cycle duration. This means that a Quintus HIP has significantly higher productivity.

An inherently safe design

It is widely acknowledged to be the safest, most reliable and durable pressure containment system ever designed. The vessel meets “leak-rather-than-burst” criteria as defined in the ASME code, and typically has a calculated fatigue life of more than 20,000 cycles.

Quick time from order to revenue

Quintus equipment is space-saving and cost effective on a complete plant investment level. Building and civil work are simplified allowing optimal plant layout and a cost efficient production entity with short commissioning times.

A lighter option

The load-absorbing wire used in the wire-wound technology used by Quintus Technologies has a tensile strength twice that of a forging, making the system lightweight and compact, with a savings in weight up to 50% compared to monolithic forged vessels.

The largest press in the World has a hot zone of 2.05m diameter, 4.2m high, and is owned and operated by Metal Technology Company in Japan. There is a great deal of interest for even larger machinery.

The standard range of equipment, up to 1.6m diameter is rated to 200MPa as standard. The larger the diameter of the hot zone, the more force is exerted on the end closures. The Quintus wire-wound frame design is made to handle this, and the pressure rating of larger equipment can be discussed based on your needs.

In discussion with Quintus, you will be able to optimise the footprint in your facility to ensure that productivity is ensured. We help in layout discussions and can arrange the machine layout to make best use of your space. This ensures good planning of civil work, transportation and installation. We help you to get up and running so that you can increase the return on your investment.
