Design of high pressure valve

This project is manged from the high pressure processing (HPP) division. HPP is mainly used for extended the shelf life of food and beverages without using heat or additives. The high pressure will inactive the bacteria without changing the flavour. A typical cycle will use a pressure of 600 MPa. Quintus system runs in cycles with stages following a set order. One stage is the decompression of the system. This process will create very high flow and great pressure difference. The high flow creates stress and wear on mechanical components. Understanding the flow and physical phenomena are keys to design reliable and cost-effective equipment. Optimizing this component can also reduce the decompression time and overall cycle time. This project is a continuation of previous work “Design of components for high flows”.

Task Description

The object is to manufacture, test and refine previous valve. Evaluate manufacturing methods with our supplier. Define testing procedure and test the valve. Redesign the value based on your findings. The task includes creating of new CAD-models, modifying existing CAD-models. Concept generation and design of test equipment.
